Peter Crane FCA
Peter Crane trained as a Chartered Accountant in London and Hull. Besides gaining experience in commerce and industry, he managed the Computer Audit and Small Businesses Consultancy department for a major international region of one of the 'Big five' firms of accountants.
Peter started Peter Crane & Co (in Newquay) from scratch in 1979. He soon became involved in the Institute of Chartered Accountants affairs and over a period of 15 years was Cornwall & Plymouth Branch Secretary and Chairman, and South Western Society President and for 10 years sat on that region's Technical Advisory Committee. He was responsible for setting up the Cornwall Tax Liaison Group with Inland Revenue and Chartered Accountants in the early 1990's.
Peter has over 40 years accountancy experience and oversees both the Newquay and Penzance Offices.
His hobbies are varied and range from visiting his holiday home in Newfoundland to playing the classical guitar, from mountain-walking to playing with his grandchildren.
Newquay Office
Heath Crowle
Heath has worked for the Practice for nearly 20 years.
He manages a portfolio of sole trader, partnership and small limited company clients in all aspects of their accountancy and tax requirements.
He assists with a variety of tax related work within the Practice and has attained his qualifications in both business and personal taxation.
His interests and hobbies include football, mountain biking and music.
He has been the Treasurer of his local social club for over 15 years.
Matthew Bennetts
Matt has worked for the Practice since 2004.
He assists Heath Crowle and Neil Hallam with accounts and tax preparation for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
He is a Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians and is currently studying towards the Association of Taxation Technicians qualification.
His interests and hobbies include old cars, playing the guitar and listening to music.
Sarah Hart FMAAT
Sarah has worked for the Practice for over 20 years.
She manages a broad spectrum of clients including sole traders, partnerships and small limited companies in a variety of sectors including retail, tourism, food, motor, travel, building and construction, fishing and farming.
She is a Fellow Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians and is currently in the final stages of studying towards the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (ACCA)
She is the Office Manager for our Newquay office.
Her interests and hobbies include spending time with her young and very active dog Alfie, gardening and reading.
Joanne Leung
Jo has worked for the Practice since 2007.
She assists Sarah Hart with accounts and tax preparation for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies. She also assists Sarah Gleed with payroll.
She is qualified in NVQ Level 3 Payroll and is a Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians. She is currently studying towards the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (ACCA).
Her interests and hobbies include dancing, music and basketball.
Sarah Skewes MAAT DChA
Sarah is from West Cornwall and from a farming background. She has been working with the Practice since 1993 and during this time has become a Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians and more recently gained a Diploma in Charity Accounting.
She is the Audit Manager and mainly works with the corporate and charity clients of the firm. Sarah works between both offices and has specialised in dealing with registered charities and non-profit making organisations.
Her interests and hobbies include spending time with her young family, walking, reading and keep fit classes.
Neil Hallam ACCA FMAAT
Neil joined the Practice in 1998.
He works in the Corporate Department as a Manager and prepares and audits limited company accounts in a variety of sectors including retail, manufacturing, real estate, mortgage intermediaries, personnel recruitment, ship repairers, waste disposal, flat management companies, charities, associations and other not-for-profit organisations.
He is a Fellow Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians and has recently qualified as a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
He oversees the Information Technology within the Newquay Office.
His interests and hobbies include cycling, running, pool, fishing and surfing.
Joanne Hulands
Joanne joined the practice in early 2011.
She assists Neil Hallam with accounts and tax preparation for sole traders, partnerships, limited companies and not for profit organisations. She also assists Christine Varcoe with the reception and administration duties within the office.
She is currently studying towards the Association of Accounting Technicians.
Her interests and hobbies include cycling, running, swimming and walking.
Sarah Gleed
Sarah joined the Practice in 2005 as Payroll Assistant and has 13 year's experience in Payroll preparation.
She runs our payroll department and prepares all aspects of payroll reporting including weekly, monthly and yearly reports.
She has previously worked for Game as Senior Payroll Officer and was responsible for the payroll processing of over 800 employees and also worked for Southern Irish preparing their payroll for over 3,000 employees.
She has a BTEC 5 Diploma in Payroll Management and International Association of Book Keepers - Manual and Computerised Payroll.
Her interests and hobbies include reading, country walks, vegetable growing and keeping chickens.
Andy Luckman
Andy has been with the Practice for over 9 years.
He performs the bookkeeping duties on behalf of many of our clients and is vastly experienced in bookkeeping for all types and size of businesses.
His interests and hobbies include football, horse racing and walking.
Christine Varcoe
Christine has been with the Practice for over 20 years.
She is our receptionist and deals with all our administration within the office.
Penzance Office
Julie Salmon
Julie has worked for the practice for over 32 years.
She manages a portfolio of sole trader, partnership and small limited company clients including farmers, veterinary surgeons, builders, property developers, insurance agents, flower nurseries and holiday lettings accommodation.
Her interests and hobbies include reading, gardening and walking her dog.
Tom Bourne
Tom joined the practice in 2008 as a trainee accountant.
He currently works as an assistant to Julie Salmon. He is a Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians and is currently studying towards the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (ACCA).
Tom is a keen surfer and also enjoys swimming and going to the gym.
Margaret Ralph
Margaret has worked for the practice for over 22 years.
She manages a portfolio of sole trader, partnership and small limited company clients which include retail shops, builders, farmers, fishermen (including boat owners), artists and some from the holiday industry.
Her interests and hobbies include gardening, reading, learning Spanish, travelling, music and walking her dog.
Avril Trewhella
Avril joined the practice in 2004 and assists Margaret Ralph with accounts and tax preparation.
She has gained a number of qualifications including Pitman Bookkeeping and Accounts Level 1, City & Guilds Bookkeeping and Accounts Level 2 and ICS Bookkeeping and Accounts Level 1 & 2.
Her interests and hobbies include gardening, especially growing her own vegetables, reading, crosswords and jigsaws.
Phil Lamerton FMAAT
Phil who is from Cornwall, began his career in accountancy in 1988 and worked for several local accountants before joining the Practice in 1993. He is a Fellow Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians and is in the final stage of studying towards the professional papers of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants.
With a varied client portfolio that includes limited companies, partnerships, sole traders, clubs and associations, Phil looks after clients involved in the local trades of farming, fishing and the holiday industry as well as those involved in retail, manufacturing and service industries.
His interests and hobbies include football, record collecting, classic cars and walking his dog.
Trystan George MAAT BA (Hons)
Trystan joined the Practice in September 2004 as a trainee Accountant. He currently works as the Payroll Manager and assistant to Phil Lamerton. Trystan's qualifications include a BA (Hons) in Business Administration, a HND in International Business and is a Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians
His interests and hobbies include going to the gym, travelling, following the Cornish Pirates at Rugby and he is a keen Chelsea football fan.
Anne Williams
Anne has worked for the Practice since 1988 and joined from school as an Office Junior on the Youth Training Scheme before being promoted to Secretary/Head Receptionist and in 2007 was promoted to Office Manager.
Her qualifications include RSA Stage I and II Typing, Teeline Shorthand, CLAIT, RSA Book- Keeping Stage I and II.
Her interests and hobbies include travelling, trying to ski, watching motocross, learning Italian and walking her dog.
Laura Oliver BMus (Hons)
Laura joined us in August 2009 as Secretary/Receptionist and deals with our typing and administration in the reception.
Her qualifications include RSA Stage III Text Processing and Word Processing, Institute of Certified Bookkeepers Level 1 and attended the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff where she obtained BMus (Hons).
Her interests and hobbies include listening to music as well as playing the saxophone and clarinet, reading and exploring the countryside of Cornwall.
Natalie Stephens
Natalie joined us in September 2009 as Receptionist/Office Assistant and deals with reception and various administration duties within our reception.
Her interests and hobbies include socialising with friends, travelling and horse-riding.
